Summary

The Director of Quality and Compliance will be responsible for the quality of service delivery and the regulatory compliance of the business unit. This position is responsible for the management and development of the quality management system and related tools to identify areas for improvement that can accelerate business results with the ultimate goal of operational excellence.

The Director of Quality and Compliance will function as the Explosives Safety Officer for MBI Energy Services. The Wireline Quality and Compliance Director will manage, supervise, administer, lead, advise on, or perform explosives safety work to ensure compliance with explosives safety policy and regulations at all wireline locations. This role is in charge of protecting personnel and property from the hazardous consequences and mitigating the risks associated with explosives operations.  

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned

  • Provide guidance and governance to the functional leadership in applying operational excellence principles and tools to drive sustainable business improvements;
  • Work closely with operations management to ensure the quality management system is aligned with business needs and the strategic plan;
  • Develop and implement explosives safety policy, standards, practices, and procedures to minimize or eliminate potential safety hazards and threats;
  • Advise on or resolving technical matters dealing with explosives safety requirements; determining appropriate explosives marking, packaging, storage, and shipping requirements;
  • Develop and implement programs to reduce the frequency, severity, and cost of explosives accidents, injuries and fatalities;
  • Conduct safety inspections of explosives activities, and evaluate hazards for compliance with BATFE, DOT and other codes and standards;
  • Conduct safety inspections of buildings, facilities, equipment, and apparatus related to explosives operations to identify safety-related deficiencies; 
  • Review results of compliance audits and inspections with management, provide recommendations for correction (and prevention of recurrence) of non-compliance findings, and identify necessary follow-up measures to ensure future compliance;
  • Investigate explosives accidents/incidents for possible causes, prepare necessary documentation and recommend appropriate measures to eliminate or mitigate reoccurrence, and provide emergency response support to safety incidents on-site;
  • Manage components of explosives safety program(s) including appropriate safety precautions, security procedures, and documentation requirements;
  • Train workforce in explosives safety;
  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and possess a valid driver's license; and
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must successfully meet all BATFE, DOT, and/or state or local requirements for transporting and handling hazardous materials, including explosives materials

  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel to wireline locations as required

Education and Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma minimum, college degree preferred
  • At least 4 years Quality and Compliance experience required

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • The Director of Quality and Compliance, Wireline will report directly to the Vice President of Wireline.
